The Qingdao Aquarium (Qingdao Marine Science and Technology Museum, Qingdao Marine Products Museum) was founded by cultural pioneers such as Cai Yuanpei, a famous educator, revolutionist and politician. It was completed and opened on May 8, 1932. It is the first aquarium designed and built by Chinese people, and also the anchor of modern marine scientific research and the birthplace of popular marine science education in China.
